Paul Groves, a television commercial director, takes LSD while dealing with his divorce. He experiences visions of being chased by hooded figures on black horses and runs along a beach. As he travels through Sunset Strip, nightclubs, and strangers' homes, he reflects on commerce, sex, and women. He meets a young woman named Glenn, who is interested in LSD users. Glenn takes him to her Malibu beach house where they make love amid kaleidoscopic images and chase visions. The pursuers turn out to be his wife and Glenn. After the sun rises, Paul returns to normal consciousness, transformed, and leaves to breathe fresh air. Glenn asks if his first LSD experience was constructive; Paul defers the answer to tomorrow.
