93‑year‑old Oleksiy Fomych walked out of the pre‑front line village of Rodynske, which had been under heavy fighting since August. Because Russian forces had been detected there, evacuation groups no longer went to the area. Fomych, one of the last residents, had to walk seven kilometres to the nearest Bilytske, where an evacuation team took him away. He left behind his home, a dog, and a few jars of honey, and later learned that his wife and children had secured an apartment. Meanwhile, volunteer and chaplain Leonid Nomerchuk, who had been evacuating people from Pokrovsk to Bilytske, found that the front had moved closer, making Bilytske less safe. He and other locals, including a man named Vasyl whose house was destroyed, were taken in a volunteer vehicle despite drone attacks. The evacuation efforts continue as volunteers and police from the “White Angels” try to reach those still trapped in the Pokrovsk direction.
