In 2023, the Cricket World Cup was being hosted in India. Pakistani sports anchor Zainab Abbas was scheduled to visit India to cover the tournament. However, just before her arrival, some of Zainab Abbas’s old social media posts resurfaced and went viral. These posts contained objectionable remarks against India and Hindus. As soon as these posts came to light, Indian social media users expressed their anger and strongly opposed her visit to the country. Although Zainab Abbas had already reached India, the growing controversy prompted the Indian government to take strict action, and she was sent back from the airport. Following this incident, Zainab Abbas issued a public apology on social media, expressing regret for her past comments and stating that it was never her intention to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments.
