A variety of trains are seen on this imaginary cross‑country route between Elmleigh Market Junction on the Norwich main line and onward to Sudbury and Cambridge. Set in the steam‑to‑diesel transition period of the 1950s, loco classes E4, J19, D16/3 and K1 are followed by a W&M railbus, Derby Lightweight and Metro‑Cammell DMUs. The ex‑Great Eastern Railway class E4 is first on the scene, with a local passenger train to Sudbury, followed in the opposite direction by a J19 on a train of vans, which is propelled into the headshunt to allow a through passenger train, headed by a D16/3 'Claud Hamilton', to pass. K1 shunts a cattle wagon into the yard. The J19 departs, followed by the Railbus arrival, which crosses a Derby Lightweight DMU in the station. As night falls, a Metro‑Cammell DMU collects the last passengers of the day.
