Bahram, a 6th‑century Sasanian commander, travels to the court of the Chinese khagan after fleeing from Khosrow Parviz. He defeats the khagan’s warlord Magatore, but a creature named Shir‑Kapi kills the khagan’s daughter. The khagan hides the murder to avoid appearing weak, yet the queen seeks revenge and confronts Bahram. He slays Shir‑Kapi, and the khagan rewards him with one of his daughters. The tale, drawn from the Shahnameh (verses 2301‑2410), depicts Bahram’s exploits in the northwestern region of present‑day China, near the Tarim Basin.
