In this video, the creator restores the differential of a Datsun 240Z, beginning by disassembling the R180 differential and noting its 3.36:1 ratio. To accommodate a planned upgrade from a four‑speed to a five‑speed transmission, a 3.9:1 differential from a Swiss 240Z is selected. After inspecting both units, the ring gear and pinion from the 3.9 unit are installed into the original differential, and new bearings are fitted. The creator then reassembles the rear axle, having previously restored fuel and brake lines, hand‑brake mechanism, pedal box, diff belt, master cylinder, clutch cylinder, brake switch, and proportioner. The car is now back on its wheels, ready for the next steps of engine and transmission restoration.
