Two female mountain climbers were safely winched from Queensland's Mount Maroon on Sunday, June 22, after becoming stranded near the summit. Footage released by LifeFlight Australia shows rescue crewmen being lowered from a helicopter to reach the pair, who were located about 150 metres from the mountain's peak. LifeFlight said it received the distress call at around 3:45 pm. Both women were uninjured but unable to descend safely. The hikers were flown to a nearby state school, where they were assessed and released.
