Drones attack Russia's space electronic intelligence system for the first time, paralyzing its work

In the Stavropol region of Russia, drones attacked the Zvezda facility, a key node of the Russian space electronic reconnaissance system. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, the facility, which has been operational since the early 1970s, intercepts signals from satellites and foreign military communications and is integral to Russia's intelligence and cyber espionage efforts. The attack, reported on the night of May 2, also coincided with a massive drone strike on temporarily occupied Crimea, where explosions were heard and fires recorded near military installations. Kovalenko emphasized that Crimea is viewed by Russia as a strategic military base that poses a threat to shipping and is used for strikes against Ukraine.
