The Rufous Sibia, also known as the Black‑capped Sibia or the Three Cheers bird, has smart blue wings, a rufous‑brown body, and a black cap atop its head. Hanging upside down, it plunders a wild Himalayan pear tree, biting off big chunks of ripe small wild pear fruit. This bird, seen here at Jabbarkhet in the western Himalaya, is the "Three Cheers" caller. The fruiting Himalayan pear tree provides a colourful burst of autumn colours, and the wild Himalayan pear trees blossom and proliferate at the Jabbarkhet wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary encourages planting more pear trees to feed butterflies, bees, and birds, and plans to create an entire forest of wild pear trees someday.
