Thanks to Claire, the booking office staff, the locomotive crew, and everyone at Ffestiniog Railway, past and present, for making this journey possible. We begin at Porthmadog Harbour station, a busy junction for the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways, and head downhill on the 13½‑mile line that historically carried slate to the harbor. The ride is picturesque, offering views of the Cob and surrounding valleys. We travel in locomotive David Lloyd George, a classic narrow‑gauge 0‑4‑0 introduced in 1863, as we pass Boston Lodge Works, Minffordd, Penrhyn, and other heritage sites. The journey continues past the 1978 departure from the line and through the Moelwyn Tunnel before arriving at Blaenau Ffestiniog. Key stops appear at 00:57 Porthmadog, 04:53 Boston Lodge Works, 05:42 Boston Lodge, 09:56 Minffordd, 16:34 Penrhyn, 21:50 Rhiw Goch, 29:12 Plas Halt, 35:22 Tan y Bwlch, 39:49 Garnedd Tunnel, 42:18 Coed y Bleiddiau, 46:06 Campbell's Platform, 47:51 Dduallt, 49:11 start of 1978 Deviation, 53:56 Moelwyn Tunnel, 59:26 Tanygrisiau, and 01:06:42 Blaenau Ffestiniog.
