Former student kills 10 people in Austrian high school shooting

A former pupil killed nine people and then himself at a secondary school in Graz, Austria, on Tuesday, the worst school shooting in the country's modern history. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner said six victims were female and three male, with 12 injured. The 21‑year‑old shooter entered the school at 10 am with two guns, was found dead in a bathroom. Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker called it a dark day and announced three days of national mourning. The motive is unknown. Austria has a heavily armed civilian population.
