Dame Barbara Woodward, the UK’s representative to the UN, described Israel’s aid system in Gaza as inhumane, ineffective, dangerous and fuelling instability at a UN Security Council meeting in New York. Over 100 aid agencies, including Save the Children and Médecins Sans Frontières, issued a joint statement warning of mass starvation across Gaza. The UN says Israel, as the occupying power, has an obligation under international law to ensure humanitarian aid reaches all in need. Israel claims it follows international law, facilitates aid entry while preventing it from reaching Hamas, and has recently acknowledged a significant drop in supplies reaching Palestinians, blaming UN agencies.
