knight fight on the high ridge | realistic, non-choreographed medieval combat

The footage is from the high ridge (Hohnekamm) in north Germany, where it was minus 12 degrees. We fought with a warhammer and poleaxe, using rubber heads on both weapons for safety. My armor, made of titanium and hardened steel, corresponds to 1485 models, while my friend Niklas used 16th‑century armour and a gothic sallet. The nearest hospital was a five‑hour walk and a 30‑minute drive away. At the end of the fight I nearly died; the helmet was filled with snow and I couldn’t breathe or cry. Niklas noticed that I fought differently at the end and let me go. With the last of my strength I managed to take off my helmet and breathe again.
