Mexico’s Lake Texcoco overflows into abandoned airport site after heavy rainfall | AFP

A partially built airport near Mexico City is now nearly submerged from the overflow of nearby Lake Texcoco, after torrential rains. Large sections of the abandoned site are now flooded, with only parts of some unfinished buildings and the access road still visible. Construction of the airport, once intended to serve the metropolis, was halted in 2018 after it was rejected by a public referendum.
