The week was difficult, but we endured it together with support and trust in God. It began with a report from NTA about priests and believers of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Lviv, who, after church closures, gather in apartments, and disturbing news from Pochayiv. On October 8 something strange happened, which I see as another provocation against the Lavra monks, aimed at seizing property and intimidating UOC believers. Then a violent incident occurred in Volodymyr, Volyn eparchy, where a UOC deacon was beaten and witnesses saw the demolition of the cathedral, eparchial administration, and theological school. The week passed, and we felt despair, anxiety, and fatigue from the fact that Ukrainian citizens, Christians, and UOC believers are left helpless. Conversations with people of various confessions show that regardless of denomination, people are tired of violence, media slanders, scandals, and hostility. They do not support violence or religious hatred. In light of this, I conclude that religious scandals and provocations shift attention from the most urgent issues. Therefore, any manipulation of faith must stop, and we should focus on resolving critical matters: ending the war, achieving peace, ensuring electricity, water, and heating supply, economic instability, rampant corruption, and elections.
