Obernai, a small town in Alsace, has a rich history dating back to the 8th century. It became a free city in 1240, joined the Decapolis in 1354, and flourished in the 16th century with crafts and wine. During the Thirty Years' War it suffered occupation and plunder. Today, from late November through December, the town hosts a charming Christmas market that showcases Alsatian traditions. Visitors stroll through illuminated streets, enjoy the scent of gingerbread and mulled wine, and sample local specialties such as the white Obernois mulled wine. The market runs from 16:00 on Friday, 25 November, until 16:00 on 24 and 31 December, closing on 25 December.
