Panwali Dwar peak sits at the edge of the Nanda Devi Sanctuary, visible from the Advanced Base Camp of Sunderdhunga Khal. The outer ring of the sanctuary is circled by peaks such as Banoti, Durgakot, Tharkot, Tent Peak and Mrigthuni, all seen from below Sunderdhunga Khal in Kumaon. The Sunderdhunga Valley features an ancient glacial moraine shelf with mud flutings at high altitude in Uttarakhand. Numerous tributary streams feed the main Sunderdhunga torrent, flowing past meadows and scree slopes as one approaches the campsite in the upper valley, captured in aerial view. The first peak encountered is Maiktoli, whose right‑hand ridge leads up to the side of Sunderdhunga Khal. The second peak is Panwali Dwar, with its left side leading up to Sunderdhunga Khal. The approach to Sunderdhunga Khal offers a view of a massive icefall below the col, with Maiktoli and Panwali Dwar peaks in sight.
