The European Commission faces two new votes of no confidence in the European Parliament. Before voting, MEPs debate their concerns with the president of the institution, Ursula von der Leyen. The motions of censure will be voted separately on 9 October. To be adopted, a motion of censure must secure a two-thirds majority of the votes cast, representing a majority of the component Members of Parliament. If this happens, the Commission must resign. On 10 July, Parliament rejected a motion of censure against the Commission by 175 votes in favour and 360 against, with 18 abstentions.
