On January 9, a fire broke out in a one‑story wooden house in the village of Pychas, Mogzinsky district, Udmurtia. The blaze was extinguished after covering 90 square metres. A 69‑year‑old man was found dead with no signs of life. The preliminary cause was careless handling of fire while smoking. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reminds people not to smoke in bed or unsuitable places, to ensure cigarettes are fully extinguished, to use ashtrays, and to install smoke detectors.
