In these areas, where millions of people passing by to see the Pyramids walk past without noticing; fish markets, chicken slaughter points, meat stalls, bakeries, and chaotic street life appear before us in all their reality. Fish is sold in the open in hot weather, chickens are slaughtered right before your eyes, meat is stamped and hung in the middle of the street. The understanding of hygiene, prices, and daily life is very different from the systems we know. On one hand, prices that seem "very cheap," on the other hand, you clearly feel in these streets how unemployment and low incomes pressure people. 🎥 But the issue is not just the markets. Carrying a camera in these streets is a risk in itself. Voices raised with the claim that you are filming women, looks that suddenly change, people walking towards you... After a certain point, you are forced to decide what to film and what not to film with instant reflexes. One wrong move can turn into a great tension.
