Inside Trump's border military zone in New Mexico

In the past four months, U.S. President Trump has raised the number of active‑duty troops on the border from 2,500 at the end of the Biden administration to 8,000, according to the U.S. Army. Two military zones have been created, classified as U.S. Army installations, giving troops the right to temporarily detain and question migrants and other civilian trespassers caught in the areas.
