Their eighteen-year-old daughter, Natasha, supports her mother. By chance, Natasha meets a young man, a taxi driver named Vasya, and goes with him to Novgorod to visit his parents. Worried, Marina Petrovna and Boris Ivanovich follow her. Concern for their daughter's fate and the realization of their shared responsibility for her future reunite the couple.
