Another game has fallen victim to Microsoft's cost‑saving measures. Avalanche's Contraband, announced with a teaser trailer in 2021 but never shown beyond that, has been put on hold, and judging by Xbox's recent track record with in‑development titles, it looks unlikely to see the light of day. The open‑world co‑op game, developed by the creators of Just Cause, has joined the ranks of long‑in‑development Xbox titles such as Perfect Dark and Everwild that are now effectively cancelled. In Sony news, the PS5 has shipped 80 million units worldwide and is on track to overtake the PS3 in overall sales, but it still trails the PlayStation 2, which sold 160 million units. Sony is also admitting that its live‑service plans have fallen short, following the failures of Concord and the recent delay of Marathon.
