Alexander Scriabin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 11, composed between 1888 and 1896, were modeled after Chopin’s 24 Preludes, Op. 28, covering all major and minor keys in a circle of fifths sequence. Vladimir Sofronitsky’s recording, though the date is unknown, begins with the vivace C‑major prelude at 0:00, then moves to the allegretto A‑minor at 0:45, the vivo G‑major at 2:34, the lento E‑minor at 3:27, the andante cantabile D‑major at 5:22, the allegro B‑minor at 7:04, the allegro assai A‑major at 7:54, the allegro agitato F♯‑minor at 8:43, the andantino E‑major at 10:12, the andante C♯‑minor at 11:43, the allegro assai B‑major at 13:00, the andante G♯‑minor at 14:52, the lento G♭‑major at 16:28, the presto E♭‑minor at 18:13, the lento D♭‑major at 18:59, the misterioso B♭‑minor at 21:10, the allegretto A♭‑major at 23:13, the allegro agitato F‑minor at 23:52, the affettuoso E♭‑major at 24:42, the appassionato C‑minor at 25:48, the andante B♭‑major at 26:48, the lento G‑minor at 28:15, the vivo F‑major at 29:15, and finally the presto D‑minor at 29:53. Each prelude showcases Scriabin’s evolving harmonic language, rhythmic innovation, and pianistic demands, with some pieces featuring unusual meters such as 15/8 in the E♭‑minor prelude and a 5/8+4/8 meter in the B♭‑minor prelude.
