Hebephrenia, a subtype of schizophrenia first described by E. Haecker in 1878, typically emerges during puberty and is characterized by a gradual onset of negative personality changes, impaired thinking, and a narrowing of interests. Patients often exhibit bizarre motor behaviors such as walking on stilts, facial expression abnormalities, and disordered speech. They may display impulsive aggression, sexual disinhibition, and catatonic episodes, while delusions and hallucinations are usually fragmented or absent. The course is rapid, with dementia and therapy‑resistant symptoms developing within one to two years. A forensic case illustrates a 38‑year‑old man who, after repeated hospitalizations, displayed fragmented thought, bizarre behaviors, and sexual disinhibition, ultimately being diagnosed with hebephrenic schizophrenia.
