Anđelka Bojanić, a young lawyer in 1936 Yugoslavia, seeks love and her place in a patriarchal society. After a brief marriage to judge Tom Đurović ends when she loses her virginity before marriage, she moves to Trebinje to escape gossip. There she meets new people and confronts ghosts of her past, including childhood friend Nenad Aleksić, now an aviator. Tom, a conservative Montenegrin, cannot forgive her and divorces her. The series follows Anđelka's struggles and her search for happiness amid societal constraints.
