Russian armed forces work to clear landmines in Donetsk region

Russian military engineers were seen clearing landmines from roadsides in the Russian-controlled part of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, according to footage released on Sunday. Donetsk is one of four Ukrainian regions Russia claimed to have annexed in 2022 — a move widely condemned as illegal by the United Nations General Assembly and not recognised by most of the international community. The demining efforts come amid ongoing fighting in eastern Ukraine, with both sides accusing each other of laying extensive minefields to stall advances.
