This very popular song was written by Andrew Gold in 1996 for his album Halloween Howls: Fun & Scary Music, to, according to Gold, fill a void of availability of fun and scary Halloween original songs. Since the 2010s, the song has received a resurgence in popularity online and has been called "the Internet's Halloween anthem". Andrew produced, mixed, sang and played all the instruments on the original song track, which prominently features a xylophone to represent the skeletons' rattling bones. Andrew was born in Burbank, California, in 1951 and began writing songs at the age of 13. He became a very successful multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, and record producer who influenced much of the Los Angeles-dominated pop/soft rock sound in the 1970s. He performed on scores of records by other artists, especially Linda Ronstadt, and had his own success with the U.S. top 40 hits "Lonely Boy" (1977) and "Thank You for Being a Friend" (1978), as well as the UK top five hit "Never Let Her Slip Away" (1978). Sadly, he died in 2011 at the age of 59. This swinging jazzy version of the song is very different from the original and was arranged by Rafal Bienias.
