Victor Martinez-Hernandez gets life without parole for murder of Maryland mother Rachel Morin

Victor Martinez-Hernandez was sentenced to life without parole Monday for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of Maryland mother Rachel Morin, whose body was found in Bel Air in August 2023. Martinez-Hernandez received the maximum sentences on all counts and will serve his time in Maryland. He was arrested after a 10-month manhunt and found guilty in April, with DNA and evidence proving premeditation. Morin’s family expressed relief at the closure the sentence brings, though they acknowledge the loss remains. Authorities revealed Martinez-Hernandez had entered the U.S. illegally after being accused of murder in El Salvador.
