Set in 1946, just before The New Order, O.S.A. agents B.J. Blazkowicz and Agent One (Wesley) infiltrate Castle Wolfenstein to locate a file revealing the whereabouts of Nazi leader Deathshead. Captured by the sadistic Rudi Jäger, Wesley is killed, and B.J. escapes, kills Rudi and his dog Greta, and flees. In nearby Paderborn, B.J. joins the resistance led by Kessler and Annette, then travels to Wulfburg, where Nazi archaeologist Helga von Schabbs searches for an ancient vault. When the vault is opened, a gas turns the dead into zombies called shamblers. B.J. battles through the chaos, suffering the loss of ally Agent Two and is forced to choose between saving Kessler or Annette. At the dig site, Helga tries to control a massive undead creature called The Monstrosity, but it kills her and her lieutenant. B.J. destroys the beast, recovers the intel, and is extracted by Fergus Reid to begin the mission that leads into The New Order.
