Atomic Kitten released their cover of "Eternal Flame" on 23 July 2001 as the lead single from the reissue of their debut album Right Now. The track, featuring new member Jenny Frost, was produced by Andy Wright and accompanied by a music video directed by Phil Griffin. It topped the UK Singles Chart for two weeks, selling 150,000 copies in its first week and eventually 458,000 copies by July 2022. The single also reached number one in Belgium’s Flanders region and New Zealand, and peaked at number two in France, Ireland, and Sweden, earning gold certifications in several countries. The group, formed in Liverpool in 1998, had already achieved success with earlier hits and would later release additional albums before taking a break in 2004.
