Description :

A small quantity of food aid is being dropped by parachute into Gaza by military aircraft, in an attempt to help prevent mass starvation in the territory. A limited number of aid trucks are also being allowed into Gaza by the Israeli authorities. It comes as the United Nations and many charities warn of an emergency situation in Gaza, and the Hamas‑run health ministry said there had been more deaths from malnutrition in the past 24 hours. Israel, which controls the entry of all supplies to Gaza, has declared a temporary cessation of fighting in three areas in order to allow some aid to be delivered. Israel denies there is starvation in Gaza and has rejected accusations that it is responsible for food shortages. The BBC’s international editor Jeremy Bowen has been on board a Jordanian military air force plane dropping aid into Gaza, and Clive Myrie presents his BBC News at Ten report.
