Pakistani Author CALLS OUT "Distorted" History Taught To Children in School

The most horrific and hateful thing being instilled in my children’s minds is ‘Hate Hindus.’ What if the most dangerous thing we’re teaching children isn’t ignorance, but hate? A chilling reminder of this surfaced when veteran Pakistani writer Amar Jaleel delivered a scathing critique of how history, nationalism, and religious identity are being weaponized in Pakistan’s classrooms. In an emotional address during the 2019 Adab Festival, Jaleel exposed the deep-rooted indoctrination of Pakistani schoolchildren, whereby historical nuance is buried, and hatred for Hindus is injected under the guise of patriotism. He recounted the bloody Partition of India, questioning Pakistan's account of ‘many sacrifices being made’, saying that there were no sacrifices but only bloody and brutal riots that left millions of Muslims, Hindus, and Sikhs dead. Additionally, he called out the hypocrisy in teaching second graders that Pakistan was created to escape Hindu oppression—when, in fact, it was the Mughals who conquered India and ruled over Hindus for 500 years until the British came and took over.
