Anđelka receives a letter from Nenad, her childhood friend turned aviator, and feels a mix of excitement and apprehension when he thinks she is called Anita. She vows to keep his “brotherly” affection hidden as she navigates her new life in Trebinje, which stirs both admiration and gossip among the locals. Alongside meeting a former school friend, she confronts the realization of who her husband truly is. The series traces her journey as a young lawyer in the 1936 Kingdom of Yugoslavia, where she marries a conservative judge, Tom Đurović, only to separate after the first night due to a rumored pre‑marital affair. Facing social scrutiny in Belgrade, she relocates to Trebinje, meets new people, and meets the ghosts of her past, while Nenad’s aviation career weaves into her future.
