The Baptism of Jesus, Revelation of the Trinity and Celebration of Theophany

Today many Christian traditions celebrate the Theophany, the Baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan, a pivotal moment in Christian history. The event reveals the Holy Trinity: the voice of God the Father, the Holy Spirit descending like a dove upon the Son, and the declaration, 'This is My beloved Son.' It is a powerful moment of divine revelation and manifestation of the Trinity. The day also invites reflection on our own baptism, recalling Paul's words to the Romans: 'Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.' This reflection reminds us that, united with Christ in death, we are also united in resurrection, freeing us from the rule of sin.
