In a major development in the Dharmasthala Case, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has arrested the masked complainant for providing false information. The individual, who was questioned overnight, had initially claimed to have buried numerous bodies between 1994 and 2014 on the instructions of temple authorities. The SIT investigation found no evidence to support these claims. The case had gained significant attention, involving another complainant, Sujata Bhatt, who retracted her claim of a daughter going missing in 2003. The arrest has sparked a political controversy, with the BJP accusing the state's Congress government of acting hastily. BJP Karnataka spokesperson, G.S. Prasant, stated, “This was done, I repeat, only to belittle the beliefs of Hindu devotees.” The controversy involves allegations of an attempt to malign Hindu religious sites.
