Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and ration cards can get you welfare services in India, but they are no longer acceptable proof of citizenship. A senior Delhi police official said that only four documents will now be accepted, a decision made by the centre after many illegal foreign nationals produced Aadhaar, ration and PAN cards during verification drives in the capital that began last October. While Aadhaar continues to serve as proof of identity and residence, it is not valid for citizenship.
