India's air defence system, including the S-400, Israeli Kamikaze drones, and Akash surface‑to‑air missiles, effectively countered Pakistan's aerial attacks. According to the Indian Army, Pakistan deployed 300‑400 Turkish‑made drones across 36 sites from Leh to Sir Creek on the nights of May 8 and 9, targeting Indian military installations. Most of these drones were intercepted and destroyed by India's air defence. The S‑400 system operates with an acquisition radar that detects and tracks airborne targets, relays information to a command post that selects the appropriate missile, and an engagement radar that guides the missile to the target, resulting in successful interception.
