Deskripsi:

The Great Pyramid of Giza, also known as Khufu’s pyramid, is the only surviving wonder of the ancient world and stands 146 m tall. Built around 2560 BCE as a tomb for Pharaoh Khufu of the Fourth Dynasty, it originally was covered in bright white limestone casing that would have glittered in the Egyptian sun. Modern research has revealed that the pyramid was constructed from about two million limestone blocks, each weighing over two tonnes, and that the Nile’s floodplain facilitated the transport of these massive stones. Recent discoveries include a previously unknown void—dubbed the “Big Void”—and a 9‑metre‑long tunnel that may lead to the burial chamber. Archaeologists have also found two cedar boats buried on the southern and northern walls, possibly symbolizing Khufu’s ascent to the heavens. The sphinx, a guardian of the afterlife, stands to the east of the pyramid and has long been a symbol of the pharaoh’s power and the sun. These findings deepen our understanding of the pyramid’s construction, purpose, and the cultural significance of its associated monuments.
