The organization SAM for Rights and Freedoms condemned the kidnapping of the general secretary of the Popular Conference Party in Sana'a by Houthi forces, stating that it deepens the climate of political repression and threatens the possibility of a comprehensive political settlement. It said the kidnapping constitutes a serious violation of political rights, freedom of opinion and expression guaranteed by the Yemeni constitution, international human rights law, and treaties. The organization demanded the immediate, unconditional release of all party leaders, the cessation of pursuit and political restriction, and urged the international community to compel the Houthi militia to stop systematic violations against the political party.
