It sits within the North Wessex Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), about 6 miles northeast of Marlborough and 10 miles southwest of Hungerford. The village is nestled in a scenic valley, surrounded by rolling hills, woodlands, and farmland, typical of the Wiltshire landscape. Aldbourne has a rich history that stretches back to the Anglo‑Saxon period. It is mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086, where it was recorded as “Aldeburne.” The village played a role during the English Civil War, with Royalist troops camped here before the Battle of Newbury in 1643.
