Descrizione:

Eguisheim, a small commune in the Haut‑Rhin department of Alsace, was declared one of France’s most beautiful villages in 2003 and won the title of favorite village of the French in 2013. The town’s concentric layout around a medieval castle is preserved in its narrow streets, colorful houses, fountains, courtyards and a 13th‑century church. Its architecture, protected from the ravages of history, offers a picturesque setting that attracts visitors year‑round, especially during the Christmas market. The village is also part of the Alsace Wine Route, a 170‑kilometre trail that passes through 119 communes and showcases the region’s white wines. Archaeological evidence shows that the area has been inhabited since the Paleolithic, with Neanderthal remains, Roman legionary sites and medieval fortifications adding to its rich cultural heritage.
