Jim O'Rourke Girolamo De Simone, born in Naples in 1964, musicologist, performer and cultural activist, is considered one of the most relevant figures of the fringes of the Italian musical new avant-garde. As a pianist and composer, he was inspired by John Cage, Giuseppe Chiari and Luciano Cilio. As a pianist, he has performed in Italy and Europe, always arousing his audience’s enthusiasm with his interpretations, terse and impassioned at the same time. As a composer, he has realized important performance in Europe (for UNESCO in Paris, the Swiss Radio-Television, Deutschlandfunk, etc.) and in Italy (Rai Due, Radio Rai Tre, Musica Verticale, Arsenale musica, Musicaexperimento, etc.). Girolamo De Simone has published a number of cds, books and essays. He founded the contemporary music journal KonSequenz, as well as the Konsequenz Music Project for the production of records, concerts, and multimedia events.
