In the Russian region of Stavropol, drones attacked a military unit of the Russian space intelligence system, known as the Zvezda base. According to Andriy Kovalenko, head of the Center for Countering Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council, the Zvezda facility is a key station of the Soviet‑era space reconnaissance system that intercepts satellite signals and monitors foreign satellite communications. The base, part of the Central Directorate of Intelligence of the Russian Armed Forces, specializes in electronic surveillance of orbital signals and foreign satellite systems, including commercial ones, and plays a strategic role in monitoring military zones and preparing information for psychological operations and cyber espionage. Kovalenko also reported that on the night of May 2, the temporarily occupied Crimea was hit by a massive drone attack, with explosions and fires reported near military structures, which Russia considers a military base threatening navigation in the Black Sea.
