Descrizione:

Kaysersberg, a former commune in the Haut-Rhin department of the Grand Est region, is located in the historic and cultural area of Alsace. It became part of the new municipality of Kaysersberg Vignoble in 2016 and is known for its picturesque architecture, including Romanesque churches, stone fortifications, cobbled streets, and half‑timbered houses. The village was voted France’s favorite village in a France 2 program hosted by Stéphane Bern, competing against twelve other exceptional towns. Its history dates back to Roman times, with a fortress built around 1218 and later becoming an imperial city of the Holy Roman Empire in 1293. Over the centuries, Kaysersberg prospered through market privileges, wine production, and its membership in the Alsatian Decapole. Despite suffering during the Thirty Years’ War and World War II, the town has maintained its cultural heritage, featuring frescoes by Maurice Denis and other artistic treasures.
