Australia expelled the Iranian ambassador and three officials, giving them seven days to leave, after accusing Tehran of directing antisemitic arson attacks on a bar and a synagogue in Sydney and Melbourne. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described the incidents as dangerous acts of aggression aimed at sowing discord. Australia withdrew its diplomats from Tehran, suspended embassy operations, and advised citizens to avoid Iran. Foreign Minister Penny Wong noted this was the first ambassador expulsion since World War II. Canberra plans to designate the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization, a move welcomed by Israel. Iran denied the accusations.
