When the Prophet (s) passed away, the Ummah was in great turmoil. Abu Bakr al‑Siddiq, known for his truthfulness and referred to as al‑Siddiq in the Qur’an, emerged as the representative of Allah and the Prophet on earth, becoming the first rightly‑guided caliph of the Muslim community. After two years of steadfast leadership keeping the Muslims united, he returned to his Lord and was buried beside the Prophet. His death marked the beginning of the process to choose a successor, ultimately leading to the appointment of Umar ibn al‑Khattab as caliph.
