Offertorium from Duruflé's Requiem | Saint Thomas Fifth Avenue

On Remembrance Sunday, November 9, 2025, Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue offered Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem, Op. 9 to the glory of God and in loving memory of the faithful departed. Sung by the Saint Thomas Choir of Men and Boys with the Modus Operandi Orchestra, the service was conducted by Organist and Director of Music Richard Tanner. Funding for the orchestra at this Requiem was generously provided by anonymous donors, in celebration of The Rev. Dr. Alison J. Turner upon the completion of her doctoral degree at the General Theological Seminary. Duruflé’s luminous setting—a tapestry of ancient Gregorian chant and 20th-century harmonic color—has long held a special place in our parish’s musical life. We pray that this offering brings comfort, hope, and peace to all who remember loved ones who have gone before us.
