Rust is a multiplayer survival simulation game developed by the independent British studio Facepunch, originally inspired by DayZ and Minecraft. The game features realistic colors and weather effects such as rain and fog. In the Experimental version, animal models were updated, zombie animals removed, health stats changed, and building systems revised, removing half-blocks and adding double doors and hatches. Doors must now be built separately for each type, and structures are more stable with decay affecting not only building blocks but also items like sleeping bags and tool cabinets. Most items from Rust Legacy were carried over, though some were removed or altered. New armor types were introduced, ranging from animal hide clothing to road sign armor. The map is procedurally generated, so each server has a unique layout. Hunger and thirst scales were adjusted, and metabolism was reworked so that running or physical labor causes the character to starve.
