In 1985 the Russian rock group Alpha released the album "Alpha – 3", which produced hits such as "I Made It of Such a Substance", "Tsunami", and "Звёзды нам светят в ночи". The band was formed in 1983 by vocalist Sergey Sarychev together with guitarist Vladimir Holstinin, bassist Vitaliy Dubinin and drummer Sergey Safonov. Their music featured a melodic, keyboard‑driven rock sound. Sarychev’s compositions were recorded for the 1983 album "Расклейщик Афиш" and the group performed successfully at the 1986 Rock Panorama festival, after which some tracks were released on the Melodiya label. By 2025, Alpha had reformed with a new lineup that included Safonov and other musicians, continuing to play and record new material.
